Living with Birch

This custom piece was installed yesterday in Bayside, Queens.

The box is steel and stained wood, which we are going to experiment with a bit more after seeing the  stunning results! The birch was collected in High Falls, N.Y. and stands approximately 20 ft. tall.

This is a beautiful piece, we wish that every custom design could be so inspiring!

Spring!

Spring is finally here and we are starting to produce our garden and outdoor items!  We have already designed a variety of trellises and garden boxes using driftwood, barn wood and cedar. Above is our first trellis (this particular trellis could also be used as a fence section) made from raw cedar. Swing by the Shirt Factory to see our latest designs on display outside of our shop!

Slate and Cedar

Recently we came across an amazing piece of slate and we had to do something special with it. We created a coffee table that is perfect for a living room or office but is also durable enough to be used outdoors. Most commonly you will see slate being used on bathroom floors or outside by a pool but it is rarely used for furniture. This coffee table is one of a kind and was sold last week! We hope to find more interesting pieces of slate or blue stone so that we can produce more unique designs!

Twigs Rustic Furniture

Since this is our first blog post we would like to briefly introduce ourselves.

Twigs is a small rustic furniture company based in Kingston, N.Y. All of our furniture is handcrafted from local, raw material. We stock furniture of our own design but we also welcome custom orders.

The cedar bench above is our first piece. It is designed by Twigs and built to standard park bench dimensions. All of the cedar used to build this bench was hand gathered and hand milled. It was purchased by a customer from the Hamptons to be used as a memorial.

We can't wait to hear your feedback!
